Whether for use on the oil rigs where this special DNV certification is mandatory or for modest requirement on-shore application, these 10’ tank-containers for cryogenic liquid nitrogen (LIN) have their own particular niche in the cryogenic market.
LIN is widely used across a multitude of industries, whether for food and beverages as an inert gas to exclude oxygen or to blast freeze fresh produce or in medical and agriculture to preserve and store specimens of one kind or another and of course in the oil and gas fields for purging pipework or as an inert blanket to prevent the ingress of moisture into certain chemicals or processes.
The tanks have full international certification including DNV 2.7-1, IMDG, ADR/RID and US DOT
DNV certification is different from the norm and more stringent but as required by the oil and gas industries to allow tanks to be used on the oil rigs. Among other things, the frame is made much more robust and there are special fitments to allow the safe lifting with slings or with a forklift.
With this DNV certification, the tanks are much better protected and less prone to serious damage. This also has advantages if the tanks are to be used on-shore in rugged and inhospitable locations.
